EunSook Lee has led the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund as the Executive Director since
its establishment in 2013. She is also the founding Executive Director of its c4 sister
organization, the National AAPI Power Fund. Previously, she was the Senior Deputy for
former U.S. Rep. Karen Bass and Executive Director of local and national organizations
serving and advocating for Korean American and immigrant communities particularly in
the areas of immigration reform, gender-based violence, and expanding democratic
participation.
EunSook was born in Hwasoon, South Korea and immigrated to Canada at a young
age. In Canada, EunSook worked in alternative community radio as News Director and
then Station Manager of CKLN radio. She came to the US in the 90s. Writings of her
experiences have appeared in textbooks (“Women Immigrants” in the Encyclopedia of

Asian American Issues Today) and (“Engaging Korean Americans in Civic Activism” co-
written with Hahrie Han in A Companion to Korean American Studies) and op-eds

(NYTimes, Ms. Magazine and the Hill).
