Abril Gallardo Cervera (she/her/ella) has been a community organizer in Arizona for over a decade and is a founding volunteer member of Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA). She is currently the Chief of Staff at LUCHA and Arizona Center for Empowerment (ACE), two member-based, grassroots community organizations building towards social, racial, and economic transformation statewide.
Currently, she serves in the Advisory committee of REFrame and is a board member of United We Dream Action.
In the last decade, Abril served as the Digital and Communications director for LUCHA and ACE and has been part of a different grassroots efforts; in 2016 she served as the Communications Coordinator with the Bazta Arpaio Campaign, which unseated the infamous Sheriff Arpaio and was a strategist in the Healthy Working Families Initiative, which let to Arizona's historic minimum wage increase and paid sick time. She also led the One Arizona Immigration Implementation Working Group, a coalition of grassroots organizations that were responsible for leading the largest efforts for the DACA implementation services in Arizona.
Abril is an organizer, storyteller, and digital strategist at core. Her community organizing trajectory has transformed the lives of thousands of Arizonans through federal, state, local policy change and through leadership development. Abril enjoys camping with her family and recreating indigenous Southern Mexican food recipes.
