Karla Gonzalez was born in Michoacan, MX, but was raised in Phoenix, AZ and is a current DACA
recipient. Karla has a Bachelor’s of Arts in social anthropology with an emphasis in Latinx
cultures, communities, and societies. In her current role within HIP’s Leadership & Learning
team, Karla supports the Líderes Fellowship as the main point of contact and through the
coordination of the program and its many events. In addition, Karla also works closely with
other HIP teams to advance and strengthen Latinx power, leadership, and sustainable and
shared prosperity.
My vision for the Latinx community is of a future where the members of our community are
able to develop and strengthen their individual and collective identities as Líderes. I hope to be
able to develop new ways of supporting the Latinx community in the US, but also throughout
Latin America, because our shared prosperity should not know borders.
